You would think the Michael Sam kiss shown on ESPN would have only made the Rush Limbaugh and 700 Club types show's heads explode, but it has gone viral on daytime TV talks how formats as well. As with most conservatives talkers these days, they have no idea what "freedom of speech" really means. In America, you can say anything you want without worrying about the white coats taking you away in the dead of night to a FEMA concentration camp, but it doesn't protect you from work related repercussions. Anyway, Amy Kushnir was so upset by the Michael Sam kiss being shown on ESPN that she got up and walked off the set.
During a discussion on KTXD’s “The Broadcast,” Amy Kushnir, announced, “I’m done” and walked off the set after arguing that showing the moment was not in keeping with the promotion of “all-American sports.”
“When parents do not have a choice about whether or not they want their children to see this, it is wrong…I don’t call it a moment of celebration…It’s being pushed in faces. I wanna say get a room,” she said. “I don’t want to see that. I don’t want to see cake in your face, kissing each other.”
Co-hosts Lisa Pineiro and Courtney Kerr disagreed, with Kerr saying comments of Sam “are just as racist” as those said by Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling. Yet another co-host, Suzie Humphreys, offered her take:
“I’m shaking my head because people don’t have a right to express how they feel if it offends somebody else,” she says, perhaps unaware that she and Kushnir are doing exactly that on a live television broadcast. “I live in America! I still feel like I have the right to freedom of speech, and I don’t have to be penalized for my opinions.”
How many children were actually watching the seventh round f the NFL draft? Anyway, this is only the beginning.
