You see, Daptone Records was started around the turn of the last century with the objective of releasing some new music that sounded old. Through the use of obsolete (but high quality) recording technology and some very talented musicians, the founders of Daptone were able to bring their vision to life. Now you've got artists like The Budos Band, Charles Bradley, and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings releasing albums in the 2000s that sound like they were recorded 50 years ago. It's a pretty cool idea and has resulted in some very faithful recreations of an old sound with original material.
