After Kyuss broke up in the mid-90s, Josh Homme started Queens of the Stone Age, but he also started a project called The Desert Sessions, which was basically Homme collaborating with friends and fellow musicians on original music. However, the songs on each volume are written and recorded on the spot, which makes for some interesting musical ideas.
