I thought I was born well outside of the era of segregation, but apparently, I was wrong.
While the Wilcox County High School in Rochelle, GA has been integrated since the 1970s, their proms have not. Until this year, the school hasn’t sponsored any proms. Instead, parents sponsored their own invitation-only events. And those events were segregated by race.
