You may well remember the very good retro-band named The Pandoras back in the 80's. Well they've reformed, recast and renamed the band "The 21st Century Pandoras," and I wanted to introduce you to them since they are most excellent indeed.
Here's a little info:
It's about time to go back to the bikini world of “haunted beach parties,” the “hot
generation”, and insatiable dolly birds in flat-ironed bangs and go-go boots … I'm
talking, of course, about The Pandoras.Pandoras founding members Gwynne, Bambi and Casey have united with singer/songwriter Susan Hyatt (Pillbox/Stimulator/Sirens of Soho) and guitar virtuoso Lisa Rae Black (bellylove) to create 21st century pop music with a 60’s flavor.
2014, marks the 30th anniversary of It’s About Time (Voxx Records). This was the first and only album, released by the original line up of L.A.’s favorite 60’s retro all-girl band, The Pandoras. The band reigned supreme in the 1980’s LA Paisley Underground garage rock scene and on Rodney Bingenheimer's world-famous KROQ "Rodney On The ROQ" show.
---The 21st Century Pandoras are currently in the studio recording their debut album. The first singles “ Joyride “ and “Flashback Forever” will be released on Oh Long Johnson Records in March 2014.

This is a sound that Quentin Tarantino uses quite a bit in his movies. My friend Lisa Rae Black, formerly of Belly Love (Check out Season 3 Ep1of Buffy) is an excellent guitarist and new member of the band. She turned me on to the very cool tune "Joy Ride."
They are starting to get some airplay and I hope you check them out and pass it on.
Here's their Facebook page.
(I'm beginning a new feature on the LNMC soon which will feature Indy and unsigned bands. I'll let you know more soon.)
