Democrats in Colorado have uncovered a video of a Republican candidate for governor suggesting that President Barack Obama's birth certificate was a myth.

In an interview in 2010, radio host Stan Solomon asked Bob Beauprez, who is currently running for governor, if he agreed that the president's birth certificate was an "absolute fraud," and that "this man was not born in America, he is not an American."

"On the birth certificate, I don't know," Beauprez opined at the time. "I've heard both sides of it. I find it absolutely astounding that, if he has one, if this is all just a myth, why in the world not put it to bed?"

"There's a reason why they haven't at least settled that controversy," he said. "If this guy is an American citizen, he's a different kind of American than virtually any that I know."

Beauprez added that Obama came "from a different place," causing him to "act and think different than any American."

Progress Now Colorado recently provided the video to KDVR, possibly signaling that Democrats are pushing for Tom Tancredo or Scott Gessler to win the Republican primary.
