At least 100,000 Arkansas citizens can rest easier tonight knowing they won't be tossed off th state's Medicaid expansion program after Republicans finally went ahead and approved appropriations for it for the upcoming fiscal year.
Despite steep concessions from Democrats and Obamacare supporters — including a freeze on doing any sort of ACA-related outreach — the private option failed on the first four votes. One GOP lawmaker, state Rep. Nate Bell, admitted he pressed for concessions such as the marketing freeze in an effort to get fewer uninsured people to sign up for health care.
I don't ordinarily wish bad things on people, but I really want cynical jerks like Rep. Nate Bell to suffer some kind of catastrophic event that puts them in touch with the panic people feel when they're cut loose with no health care and no options.
