Rep. Steve King trashed Republican leadership as being 'directed by billionaires' while ignoring his own patrons, the Koch brothers.
February 17, 2014

Steve King must think he's so smart. In his interview with the Tea Party News Network today, he trashed Republican leadership and tried to play the populist card, badly.

Raw Story:

Rep. Steve King (R-IA), considered a social and fiscal conservative, is a tried and true Republican, having voted with his House Republican colleagues 96 percent of the time, according to The Washington Post. An ardent critic of immigration reform, which he decries as amnesty, he told a radio host for the Tea Party News network that GOP leadership’s decisions to push for reform is being dictated by corporate cash.

It “seems as though that there are some deep pockets outside the Congress and inside the country on immigration that seem to be the only voices that line up the Republican House on immigration,” King said. “And those would be the only voices that line up with the Republican leadership in the House on immigration. And that would be the U.S. Chamber [of Commerce], Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, Google money — and George Soros is involved in that too.”

I’m happy to promote business, but I’m not one of those folks who’s going to be directed by billionaires and I think that’s one of the divisions we have in the Republican conference,” he added.

BWAHAHAHA. Steve King is backed by Americans For Prosperity, brought to you by and for the billionaire nativist Koch brothers. Someone should instruct Steve on the whole Google thing, which is much, much more than money. I used the Google to find this town hall in December sponsored by Americans for Prosperity, this tour attacking Steve Braley last summer with Americans for Prosperity, and even these 2012 events with Ron Paul and Americans for Prosperity.

It hasn't just been Charles Koch who funds AfP, either. Initial donors included Exxon-Mobil, State Farm Insurance Companies, 1-800-Contacts, and General Electric.

Please continue, Rep. King. Tell us all about how how you're not directed by billionaires.

Update: The magic moment is at about 12:30 in. Sorry to those who listened to the whole painful segment!
