If there's one thing you can count on, it's President Sen. John McCain to do his best to push the United States into another military intervention, whether he wants to admit that's what he's doing or not. From TPM: McCain: 'We Are All Ukrainians'

Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) declared Friday that "we are all Ukrainians" in response to the news that Russia had taken over parts of Ukrainian Crimea.

"We are all Ukrainians," McCain said in an interview with TIME magazine published Friday. The comments came ahead of President Barack Obama's announcement that he would address the events.

McCain said that Russian President Vladimir Putin thinks "this is a chess match reminiscent of the Cold War and we need to realize that and act accordingly." The senior senator from Arizona added that that didn't mean he foresaw "a conflict with Russia, but we need to take certain measures that would convince Putin that there is a very high cost to actions that he is taking now."

The comment was a near carbon copy to what McCain said in 2008 when Russia invaded Georgia. At the time McCain said, "I know I speak for every American I say to him today, we are all Georgians."

I found this odd, because just a few years back, John McCain was telling me I was something else. Oh, look, a reporter with an actual memory:

The comments echoed McCain’s 2008 statement, “We are all Georgians,” which he made as a Republican candidate for President after Russia invaded Georgia. Six years later, McCain says he feels the same about the plight of Ukraine. “We are all Ukrainians in the respect that we have a sovereign nation that is again with international boundaries… that is again being taken in as part of Russia,” he said in an interview in his Senate office. “That is not acceptable to an America that stands up for the rights of human beings. We are Georgians. And we are Ukrainians.”

McCain insisted to Fox's Cavuto that “It does not mean starting a Cold War; it does not mean military confrontation,” but you can bet that's exactly what he's pushing for when he continually attacks President Obama for allowing "red lines" to be crossed.
