For starters, the guitar tone in this song is pretty in how aggressive it is in timbre. This compliments the tone of the lyric, which puts the idea of life in a ghetto into a new perspective. Rather than glorifying the rampant crime and other issues that plague these areas, Def explains how growing up in a tough neighborhood has helped him build character and develop his own unique sense of creativity.
