Somebody please tell me, whatever happened to the good old philosophers of yesteryear? There used to be some real stars, philosophers who were bigger than life, names like Nietzsche and Socrates and Groucho. Now we're stuck with a bunch of lightweights like Atkinson, and Nick
Bostrom, who posits that we're all living in a computer simulation, just like the Sims. (It's just a hypothesis says Nick, one that he rates as only a twenty percent possibility of being true). Occasionally Plausible doesn't want to write about him, and yet he does, leaving only a nice Bobs video by way of apology.
Tengrain does the math on Rove. He's still out there you know, yapping his way through the Sunday talkies warning about the dangers of Hillary. Giving her so much attention, in fact, that speculation is rising that he's trying to ensure that she wins the Democratic nomination. Grandiose? "Let's face it," he tells Chris Wallace, "I mean, I'm a myth, and they're -- you know, I'm Beowulf. You know, I'm Grendel. I don't know who I am. But they're after me."
From the Department of No Surprises: You know what would be really cool? If we could have General Petraeus do his dog and pony show on September 11th. Not for any political benefit, no sir, but because hey, that's Harry Connick's birthday. And some other people too important to mention.
It's also no surprise that the White House failed to meet the deadline for furnishing the Senate Judiciary Committee information on the legal basis for the president’s warrantless-surveillance program, and I sure as heck am not surprised that Holy Joe now has his sights set on Syria. And finally, Shakespeare's Sister looks at the most important question asked at Sunday's Democrat debate: Do you believe that, through the power of prayer, disasters like Hurricane Katrina or the Minnesota bridge collapse could have been prevented or lessened?
And remember, there are no wrong answers.
