Deborah Howell penned an article that's supposed to explain why Fred Hiatt's sanctioned editorial called " Good Leaks," was in complete opposition to a well researched article by their own news division. She says:

"Editorials and news stories have different purposes. News stories are to inform; editorials are to influence."

Is she then supporting the idea that an editorial is not supposed to be based on facts because it wants to influence? Anyway, I'll let Jane go over the article for you:
