(graphic Talk Left)
Dick Cheney shot an old man in the face, Secret Service agents turned away members of the sheriff's department who were not allowed to interview Cheney until Sunday morning. Today the sheriff's department issued a press release saying there was no alcohol involved in the shooting, but if they didn't get to talk to Cheney until Sunday, how would they know?
Jane notes that Jim VandeHei did a very good job pressing Scott McClellan about when exactly the President was told about the shooting, and despite McClellan's bobbing and weaving he finally admitted that Bush knew on Saturday night. When asked why nobody thought it was important to tell the public that the Vice President of the United States had shot someone, McClellan said that decision was a personal one made by ranch owner Karen Armstrong and nothing anybody should be expecting from the White House Press Secretary.
Meanwhile Alan Simpson says it was all the old man's fault for getting in the way of Dick's gun. But as TBogg notes, that is not the stupidest response to Cheney's unlicensed lawyer hunting. Not even close.
