Remember when Bob Woodward said that he suspected Dick Cheney would run for President in 2008?
From my post on The American Street 05/15/05: Bob Woodward was talking on The Chris Matthews Show Saturday and revealed a closely guarded secret about the upcoming 2008 Presidential race.
Woodward: Dark horse...Cheney, Cheney.
Nora O'Donnell, MSNBC's Chief White House correspondent gleefully replies: Ahhhhhh.
Bob quickly followed the statement up some interesting, investigative logic:
Woodward: Now think about this. Reagan was 69 when he was elected. If Cheney ran in '08, guess how old he would be? (pause-as he looks around the room)...67.
I'm not saying it is him, but his ties to Cheney can make a person wonder.
Bob talked to Fitzmas more than a month before Robert Novak's column.
Firedoglake: For tomorrow's WaPo, Woodward is writing that he testified under oath before Patrick Fitzgerald's grand jury Monday, and says "a senior administration official" told him about Valerie Plame and her position at the CIA more than a month before Robert Novak's column appeared (which would've been July 11, 2003...read on"
Atrios has the Larry King transcripts up and it's damning. "...when the story comes out I'm quite confident we're going to find out that it started kind of as gossip, as chatter and that somebody learned that Joe Wilson's wife had worked at the CIA and helped him get this job going to Niger to see if there was an Iraq/Niger uranium deal." read on
Josh: At a minimum, though, Woodward seems to have some explaining to do, at least for the fact that he became an aggressive commentator on the leak story without ever disclosing his own role in it, not even to his editors...read on
I'm too frazzled to digest all the information right now, (I'll explain tomorrow) but we all knew that Woodward has been a shill for the administration and this seals the deal. He'll say he was keeping a confidence, but he should have just stayed home instead of sugar coating this whole investigation.
