Insurgents linked to the former Taliban regime have set off a wave of violence in Afghanistan, launching a string of almost daily bombings and assassinations that have killed dozens of U.S. and Afghan military personnel and civilians in recent weeks while spreading fear throughout the international aid worker community.

I guess this is what happens when you never really finish one war and start another. Couldn't Afghanistan have become the model of democracy for the middle east that the administration craved? We might have then successfully funded and implemented Home Land security to it's fullest potential and created a bi-partisan commission to work on securing the borders. Instead, we watch vigilantes run around the dessert, tripping sensors and causing problems for the border patrol while trying to get as much air time as they possibly can. Iraq is turning out to be the war that points out our weaknesses to our foes as Jihadists rally around anti-American sentiment that has grown tenfold since the invasion. We can't even properly inspect our airlines yet. That is indeed a crime.
