We’ll see just how much weight there is to the group of 14, as a vote comes down on her nomination. If some of the moderate republicans join the democrats to vote against her and the nomination fails, then I think we can’t question their sincerity as a group. It will also weaken Bill Frist’s position further while inflaming the radical religious right; while sending a loud and clear message to the White House.

If all the moderate republicans in the group still vote for Brown even with her abysmal record, then I’m not sure what has been gained by the agreement and look for the Democrats to filibuster once again. McCain's position will then be weakened also as the harbinger of the 14, and the group will lose the momentum that they had gained.

Talk Left has more: Dems End Filibuster of Janice Rogers Brown "Janice Rogers Brown has a dangerous and extreme legal philosophy that is completely at odds with working families' interests and values," said Jon Hiatt, a lawyer for the AFL-CIO. "Her appointment to the D.C. Circuit would put workers' rights and fundamental protections at risk." read on

La Shawn Barber says in her post: Janice Rogers Brown : "Since I’ve been blogging, I’ve discovered just how overtly bigoted white liberals can be, while paying lip service to “equality” and “diversity.” Because they hear what black liberals say about me, they suddenly feel bold enough cross the line as far as race is concerned."

If I'm reading her correctly she believes the "scorn" that is directed at JRB is racially motivated. I disagree myself. It's her record and what she says that I find offensive. I do agree that people on both sides of the aisle have no idea how deep racism lives, but on Janice Rogers Brown I think the race card is not the issue at all.
